Hiker Suffers Serious Injury After Slipping on Acorn

Keswick Mountain Rescue Team were called out at 14:18 on Saturday after a walker sustained a significant leg injury on the lakeside path at Otterbield Bay.

The casualty, who was “out with family and friends on a Saturday hike,” reportedly “slipped on an acorn” while walking along the lakeshore. The fall resulted in “a significant leg injury,” with MRT volunteers noting that “many team members [were] in disbelief at the stoic resolve of the casualty.”
Keswick MRT attended the scene, where they “reduced the fracture before splinting and evacuating the casualty from the lakeside for onward transport to hospital.”
The incident involved 16 team members and lasted 1 hour 27 minutes.
